I love plants! They bring greenery and freshness to the decoration of my interior rooms. I'm used to watching the Monstera plant in a corner of the living room, confined to its little pot of earth, looking for a few rays of sunlight.  I sometimes forget that they don't all originate in a garden center, but in the wild. So imagine my pleasant surprise, during a visit to a botanical garden in Sicily, when I came across this elegant plant rooted to the ground, climbing majestically up the trunk of a tree.

 

Its immense leaves were revealed in all their natural splendor, imposing and luxuriant. Spreading out freely, they seemed to dress the tree in vegetal lace, resting delicately against the bark and enhancing the majesty of the trunk that bore them. Each of these leaves is a work of art in itself, pierced by tiny holes and interspersed with natural cut-outs. These delicate, unique shapes remind me of lace, adding a touch of sophistication and mystery to the tree.

 

Light slips elegantly through the leaf patterns, creating subtle shadows on the bark and accentuating the intricate details of each cut leaf. Together, they blend into the scene, transforming the trunk into a living, dynamic work of art, clothed by nature itself.

 

This painting is a tribute to nature in all its grandeur, and to the beauty of unexpected encounters that surprise and amaze us.
