Description of the work
This painting was created as part of the 2026 Cultural Contamination project, organized by the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Arts and Culture Council (CACVS). This project is a traveling outdoor group exhibition, presented at five locations throughout the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region. Sixteen selected artists thus created an artwork on the theme of “Renewal.”
For my part, I was inspired by a photograph taken on a hiking trail in the town of Canmore, Alberta. Unfortunately, it wasn’t me who had the chance to explore this magnificent place, but rather my sister and her partner, who were kind enough to photograph it for me.
To me, this photograph contained all the elements needed to represent my vision of renewal. The spring season, when all of nature’s elements gently awaken, transforms what already exists. In this gradual reawakening of nature, nothing is rushed: everything transforms slowly, in a delicate balance. An imprint is left behind, carrying within it the traces of the past, while opening up to the unknown.
This painting conveys the beauty of new beginnings, both fragile and powerful. It invites us to embrace renewal with sensitivity, remaining attuned to what is gently emerging.
