Description of the work
Caplan is more than a village to me, it's the cradle of my childhood, a place where I grew up surrounded by breathtaking scenery and precious moments. This painting is a tribute to the pure, timeless beauty of this corner of Gaspésie that has offered me so much.
Initial credit goes to Jonathan Bujold, who captured this magnificent landscape on camera, from which I later drew inspiration. Through his eyes, I discovered a unique perspective of the trees behind the sports center, a green setting where the light dances between the trees. Guided by his gaze, I added my own vision, seeking to capture the very essence of this natural setting, where light plays with the vegetation and brings out its best features.
The sun's rays filter through the branches, illuminating certain details, guiding the viewer's attention and offering a gentle exploration. As in life, the light sometimes shows us where to put our eyes, where to linger to better appreciate the richness of what surrounds us. Each trunk, each branch bathed in light tells a story, that of a living, welcoming nature. In painting this scene, I wanted to capture the simple yet powerful magic that inhabits our Gaspesian forests, the silent dialogue between light and shadow, where light dances and reveals the full splendour of the landscape.
