Description of the work
This personalized artwork was directly inspired by a photograph taken by its buyer. The landscape depicted is not just a backdrop: it is an integral part of their daily lives, as they own a house on Lac Clair, in the Portneuf region of Quebec. It is a place they are particularly fond of, a haven where they can recharge their batteries and appreciate the beauty of all four seasons.
One of their favorite trails is called the “Sentier des cascades” (Waterfall Trail). It runs along the river that originates in Lac Clair and leads to the Marcotte Falls in the Portneuf Regional Park. The owners enjoy walking there on weekends in the spring, summer, and fall—sometimes even in winter. Each walk is a new experience, as the landscape changes with the seasons and the flow of the water. In the spring, the waterfalls rage, offering a powerful and spectacular sight. In summer, they become gentler and more soothing, except when heavy rains disturb their tranquility. In fall, the scenery bursts into warm, golden colors, giving the forest an almost unreal glow.
Through this painting, I wanted to convey the beauty of this place that is so precious to them. The bright hues of the fall season blend with the serenity of the river, creating an atmosphere that is both lively and restful. This work becomes much more than a simple representation: it is a tribute to an intimate place, full of memories, shared walks, and moments of tranquility in the heart of Quebec's nature.
