Painting of a beautiful forest landscape

A MOMENT IN TIME

-- SOLD --

Description of the work

My inspiration for this painting is a little different from my other work. Usually, I capture on camera a moment or an image that touches me, a landscape that calls out to me and fascinates me, a tree that I think deserves to be highlighted. This time, my inspiration comes from the work of another person, photographer Matthew Sandoval.

It was while scrolling through various artists' posts on my Instagram account that I noticed a photograph that particularly appealed to me. When I saw it, I felt as if time had stopped and I'd escaped into another universe. I was captivated by the beauty of the forest and the mysterious character that seemed to surround it. Everything about this landscape appealed to me: the muted colors, the contrast in light, the mist in the background that seemed to quietly invade the setting, the magnificent carpet of ferns covering the ground... I love it when a work of art manages to transport us into another world and make us dream. It allows us, for a brief moment, what I call a moment in time, to pause our preoccupations and our fast-moving lives. We can then let our thoughts drift away without question, and enjoy the present moment.

If you look closely at some of the trees, you can see real bits of bark on the trunks. As the trees are depicted from a greater distance, I've integrated very thin pieces this time, to achieve a low relief. The effect is textural, but subtle, allowing the eye to continue wandering through the painting.
